Ruby Cler

Ruby Cler was born in Sudbury, Ontario and moved  to Windsor in the early 60's.  She has a B.S., a B.ED. and an M.A. from the University of Windsor.  Her majors were in Education, Geography, Human Kinetics and Fine Arts.

Over the last 40 years, she has flowed through a wide variety of careers: educator for 32 years for the Windsor Board of Education, underwater photographer/cinematographer (worked for 20 + years on the TV series The Last Frontier) for Toronto based Mako Films, licenced trail guide in Banff National Park, woodturner for Millers Wood Mill, etc.

Ruby first took up turning in the early 70's.  While a member of the Windsor Woodcarvers, she bought her first lathe.  Through books and experimentation, she learned the basics.  Ruby now owns 3 lathes and has studied with such turners as: Allan Batty, Stuart Batty, Ray Key, David Springett, Binh Pho, Michael Mode, Jimmy Clewes, Eli Avisera, Alan Lacer, Dick Sing, Cindy Drozda, Dale Nish and numerous others.  Having honed her skill, she teaches out of her home.
